Project Study Area

The following figures show the general extent of the study areas that will be used to evaluate each facility (Stones Ranch and Camp Niantic).    There is considerable difference in the two, due to the fact that the operations of each are quite different.    Camp Niantic is primarily an officer training facility located within an established, coastal neighborhood, while Stones Ranch is a larger, more rural facility, used primarily for weapons, tactics and heavy equipment training.   In addition, Stones Ranch impacts lands within three separate Towns (and two regional planning areas), while Camp Niantic is more or less contained within the Town of East Lyme (although the facility is located across the Niantic River from the Town of Waterford).
